Didn't see the snake

Rat Snake of the road to Pinal Villa

Lorena said she saw him and heard the thump-thump but I must have been paying more attention to other vehicles or bicycles.   I said "where" and she said you just ran over it.  I stopped the car and sure enough he was on the road behind us.  Sad to say that little bulge on his rear section are his insides popping out.   I got a stick and tossed him off the road but I'm afraid he was a goner and two school kids stepped in to finish the job.   He was over a meter long and I'm sure a good mouse and rat catcher.   I believe he is a "Rat Snake"

Raising Melaque Puente II

The bypass around the old bridge is just about ready unless they are going to pave it. This is the bridge at the west entrance to Melaque over the canal near Hotel Hacienda Melaque. I have seen water over the top of it before so I guess it makes sense raise it to the same level as the bridge on the highway. They built a whole new and larger one on highway 200 at the entrance to Boca de Iguanas in about 3 months so maybe this one in two?

Semana Santa en Melaque

Borrowed photos from canal235.com because we are staying away from the beach. We went the first weekend and restaurants were full but this last weekend is the crazy busiest of the 3. We did go to the Water Park Saturday and it was totally packed later in the day. Of course my camera went off Automatic setting and I ended up with no photos.

After school activities

The foto is Friday after school 7:30pm +/-.   Just a few minutes before there were about 50 Secondary school kids in the middle of this road.   The reason the road is empty is because 2 motor cycle police and the pickup had just swooped in to break it up and they did.   The Quad couldn't escape as fast but he was the taxi for a few more kids wanting to watch the melee.

Same thing happened Thursday evening as we passed by on our way to Pinal Villa but no police.  The combatants seem to be girls in these two cases and another closer to school a few weeks ago (street fight).   Guess someone reported this and the cops were waiting.   Better ways to spend your time kids ????

Roosters asks for equal treatment

Restaurant owners of Rooster, located in the municipal delegation of San Patricio-Melaque are asking local authorities  for equal treatment from the department of Padrón and Licenses.

They note that on Wednesday April 9, at approximately noon, arrived at the restaurant four identified as employees of the Municipality of Cihuatlán department of Register and Licenses, requiring removal of tables and chairs with umbrella from the street along with the likeness of a "Catrina".

They stated that the municipal employees acted arrogant when criticized for the notorious "inequality" in dealing with different businesses that also use the street and sidewalk as part of  their business.

"We just want to work," Roosters owner said, lamenting the  harassment of the municipal authority.

Foggy Lagoon

Photo taken this morning by Bill Gilbert of Laguna del Tule.  Not just there or by the ocean because I couldn't two blocks in my neighborhood either.   Weather site said smoke but it's definitely a sign that the seasons are changing.   Still chilly at night but sun is powerful mid-day.  Maybe ocean temperature changes are contributing.   Just hope it does not effect driving conditions as school vacation starts tomorrow with lots of people on the road.

Free Spay & Neuter Clinic - Melaque

Our group has been asked to collaborate with the Jalisco State Health Department in hosting a free Spay & Neuter Campaign in Melaque next week. The mobile surgical van will be located at the Melaque Jardín for 5 days. This will be the first time the mobile unit is in Melaque, and our goal is to attend 100 animals. We've been told that if it goes well we might be able to get them back here a couple times each year.

Please help us to promote this campaign. One of the most helpful things you can do is offer to assist your friends or neighbors in bringing their animals in for sterilization.
